Welcome to Paperworks, based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire,
both a charity and a commercial enterprise with a difference.
Founded in 1994 in response to the Government’s Care In The
Community initiative, Paperworks, a limited company, provides
crucial work experience and training to people with a range of
learning or physical disabilities.
Trainees gain valuable experience of working in a commercial
environment by helping to deliver `print-finishing’, packing and
mailing services which benefit a range of private and public
sector businesses and local organisations by enabling them to
save vital in-house time which they can concentrate on other
activities.
This dual role means that Paperworks performs a unique and
highly-beneficial function which is gaining wider recognition
and support in the local community.
Work experience for the trainees, includes team building, customer service and meeting
deadlines. All of these maximise their potential and increase
their self worth and general wellbeing.
Paperworks is constantly developing in size and sophistication
in response to the needs of trainees, carers and customers.
Paperworks has achievied `two-ticks’
symbol accreditation through Job Centre Plus demonstrating that
the charity meets high standards in offering placeme
nts to
people with disabilities and enabling them to make the most of
their skills.
Paperworks is now able to help more trainees after moving to a
fully-accessible 3,300 sq ft former warehouse – a third larger
than its previous base - which has enabled it to extend its
services to include storage and distribution work.
